Man flown to hospital after crash

A 52-year-old male has been airlifted to hospital in a stable condition after suffering a medical episode while driving in Winmalee this morning.

The man was trapped in the vehicle after it left the road, struck a tree and rolled over. A female passenger was able to free herself.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked at 8.23am, landing in a park a near the accident scene along Hawkesbury Road.

NSW Fire & Rescue and Police Rescue were on scene working to free the man, with NSW Ambulance crews providing initial treatment.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further treatment to the man at the scene for head and chest injuries.

The man was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in stable condition.
